  • History

At our school, history brings the past to life and helps children understand how it has shaped the world they live in today. Through engaging lessons that follow the National Curriculum, pupils develop a strong sense of chronology, curiosity about the past, and the skills to ask thoughtful questions about people, events and changes over time.

Children explore a wide range of historical periods, from ancient civilisations to more recent history, learning how evidence is used to build our understanding of the past. They are encouraged to think critically, compare different times and places, and appreciate how history influences their own lives.

Local heritage is at the heart of our history curriculum. By exploring the rich stories, people and places within our community, pupils make meaningful connections between national events and their immediate surroundings. This commitment to celebrating and preserving our local heritage was recognised when we were proud recipients of the Local Heritage Award, reflecting the value we place on bringing history closer to home and inspiring a lifelong interest in the past.
