At Whittington we follow a mastery curriculum where pupils are taught through whole class interactive teaching that allows them to master the concepts ready for the next part of the curriculum. Significant time is spent on developing deep understanding of the key ideas needed to underpin future learning. Teachers adjust the length of time spent on each part of the curriculum accordingly to ensure that children are ready for the next part of their learning.
In Reception children follow the EYFS framework with the aim of achieving the Early Learning Goals. As part of this the pupils in reception follow a programme called 'Mastering Number' which then continues into Year 1 and 2
